About Us
The PTA is made up of parents, teaching staff and an elected committee who organise events and initiatives order to:
- Raise funds to benefit all children attending the school
- Build and maintain a fun and active social community within our school
The Bollin School PTA is a registered Charity (No. 1003172) that operates through a Committee and Trustees. You can see more on the principles of how a PTA operates on the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations website: http://www.ncpta.org.uk
The PTA Committee
The Committee is made up of four core roles, although the Chair role is often split between two or more people to share the workload. A person is voted and seconded into a Committee role for a duration of two years, after which the post is re-advertised.
Our current Committee members are:
How to get involved
The PTA depends on the goodwill and support of parents, but recognises that everyone is busy and time is limited. We operate in a flexible way, and appreciate all time, contacts, experience, skills, ideas, offers and knowledge as they are available - so we hope you will feel able to get involved at any time and in any way you can.
Current help needed:
- Class Reps (see Class Reps page or contact Sarah Binney for more details
- Ideas for fun and/or fundraising events, and even better, people who'd like to organise them too!

Email updates and E-newsletters
We would like to reduce our use of paper communication as much as possible, so are collating a PTA database of email addresses so we can keep you updated by email where possible. Due to data protection, we must keep this database separate from that kept by the school, so please provide your email address so we can send PTA E-newsletters and E-updates to you.
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, the Bollin School PTA will only use your data for PTA related business. It will not be shared or otherwise passed on to any other third party individual or organisation.
Social networking sites
We are now on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. If you already use one or more of these, or feel brave enough to try, do become a fan, follow us or join our group - we hope that using at least one of these will help you to be updated with the latest news and updates!
Class Reps
As well as planning social activities for their class year, Class Reps have an essential role in liaising between the PTA and other parents in their class. The PTA often relies on Class Reps to find helpers for planning or running events, or to raise awareness of these. Equally, they provide feedback to the PTA from the wider school community, so that all views can be taken on board.
Class Reps are kept updated by attending or receiving minutes from the monthly PTA meetings, and are in regular contact with the committee members.
