Nomination for Chair role

Vicky Potts advised that following the resignation of Rafia Javed from the Chair role, she would be willing to step from the Vice-Chair to the Chair role.  This was supported and agreed by all.

Vicky advised she would appreciate the support of anyone else to take on a Co-Chair or Vice-Chair role.  Anyone interested should contact Mrs Downs or any of the Committee.

Welcome to new parents – MacMillan coffee morning

It was decided to hold the coffee morning in the school hall on Friday 25th September at 09.15am, immediately after school drop-off.  This will both serve as a welcome and social catch-up for new and existing parents, as well as a fundraising for the MacMillan Fund.  Tables will be set out on the Thursday evening before – volunteers tbc and the new PTA banner to be used.  Mrs Downs to include this event on the next News Bulletin.

Head Teacher Report: 2009/2010 Future Activities (Autumn Festival)

The transitioning to a two-class intake school has reduced room to hold big events within the school buildings.  Therefore, it is not felt feasible to hold a Christmas Fair this year.

Instead, Mrs Downs and Mrs Manifould propose a week-long 40th Anniversary Autumn Festival, taking place in a large hired marquee.

The cost of hiring the marquee is about £4000 but it is hoped that we could get a lower price.

As much as it is practicable, the school and the PTA would make use of the marquee every day/evening to offset the hiring costs.

Events would include: Harvest Festival, Kids’ Street Party, Autumn Fair, Family Disco and table-top sale.

Ideas for the Fair include: games, table-top stalls (toys, books, clothes), food.

Additional ideas included the creation of an art centerpiece to be put in the new building, charity appeal, past pupils reunion, photo montage and 60s fashion parade.

Bollin Cookery Book

We are still short on recipes and would welcome contributions from children and adult alike as soon as possible to Donna Tattersall or Vicky Potts via email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or using the flyer to the school office.

We aim to finalise this by Christmas.  Ideas were put forward that reusable shopping bags and kids’ aprons could also be produced for sale at the same time.

Treasurer’s Report

We have a strong balance in both our current and savings accounts.

The school has requested the PTA to fund an additional laptop and trolley – agreed.

Communication and website

More effort is required to keep the website content current and no-one has the required time.

Mrs Downs recommended that a communications budget should be established, including budget for the PTA website to be managed by the same company that manages the school website.

Julie to provide a communications budget.

Email database is being build and names / email addresses being gathered.  This will enable E-newsletters to be distributed regularly – greatly improving communications.  This should begin this term.

A PTA banner has been developed to increase visibility.  To be used for events and above one of the playground huts for cake stalls, ticket sales etc.

Whiteboard – on the days that the PTA Hut would be manned, a school whiteboard would be made available to highlight events/activities etc and to gather opinion.

 AOB

Mrs Downs to review ideas collected at July meeting for suggested use of PTA funds.

Ideas for Christmas events in absence of fair:

Grotto at disco

Sale of cook book, Christmas cards etc

Race night / wine-tasting
