Bollin PTA Meeting

Monday 15th June 2009, 19:30 – 21:00, At The Bollin School

 Present

Rafia Javed, Janet Roberts, Helen Callery, Imelda Arthern, Jean-Bruno Villetter, Marilyn Downs, Lynne Manifould, Milena Flett, Donna Tattersall, Julie Saunders, Vicky Potts, Kwai Yu.

Fun Run

This was very successful with about 170 runners taking part.

Summer Camp - Saturday 18th July

A central meeting/eating area for the camp has been decided.  The cost is £5 per tent. 

Actions:

Kwai have volunteered to do BBQ for first 90 minutes.

We need more volunteers please.

Summer Fair - Saturday 20th July

Lots of activities planned.

New banner produced for the event.

ICT suite will be used for drop-off items on Friday.

Cake boxes will be sent out.  Believe 120 will be sufficient.

Bollin’s Got Talent will take place between 1:00 – 1:30pm

Summer Party – Saturday 4th July

Ticket sale event in the playground has resulted in quite an uptake on tickets.

We believe we are close to “sold out” situation.

Actions

Anyone who knows a business that would like to sponsor brochure to contact Vicky Perrett, Caroline Todd, or other member of team.

Summer Disco – Thursday 23rd July

 

Bollywood Beach Party theme has been.

Disco will take place between 18:00 – 19:30.

Price remains £2 per child and adults free

Rafia still investigating options for tattoo’s,  jewelry, an Indian DJ, toy stall, samosa as well as hot dogs.

40th Anniversary

Altrincham Festival ‘Flower Power’ Float, Saturday 4th July

Staff team and couple of volunteers to date; more needed.

Float to be made on Friday and team need to prepare early on Saturday.

Children/Staff to be dressed as Hippies

To keep the children busy, it was suggested that they blow bubbles whilst being on the float.

Current lorry hire option is for Stamford Hire.  However Jean-Bruno is looking at alternative option.

Ruby Anniversary Bollin Cookbook

Keen to produce to celebrate anniversary and reflect healthy ethos of school.

Possibly collate 40 recipes to reflect 40 years, asking all families to contribute ideas.

Donna Tattersall able to facilitate print/production at minimal cost.

Discussed possibility of asking Martin Hambleton to support with photography

Janet Roberts volunteered to arrange nutritional summaries for each recipe.

Aim to produce in time for launch at Christmas Fair.

In progress – considering one off payments and also options for monthly direct debits.

Nothing significant to report this month.

Communication and website

Website and e-Communications

Dave Bellin continues to oversee development of our new website.

Looking to establish PTA databse for eNewsletters.

Considering a Swap Shop facility on the new website.

Gift aid form will be made available on the website.

Newsletter

New content for mid-July newsletter would be appreciated.

We will be seeking sponsors for the newsletter.  Again, help to identity and sign up sponsors would be appreciated.

New Parents

We will look to invite new parents to provide their email addresses to aid communication

The new welcome packs will cost approximately £1000.  However, this should last the PTA a few years.

Communication Budget

A budget should be set-aside for communications.  Julie Saunders will propose a figure for approval.

12.  AOB

A multi-media workshop has been approved to engage year 6 to produce a 40th Anniversary DVD.  Lynne Manifould and an outside Media Consultant are leading this workshop.  The short film will be used for promotional purposes e.g. available on PTA and school website for future parents to view.  The cost of £800 will be funded by the PTA.

Next Meeting: Monday 20th July from 7.30pm onwards.  This will also be a social event and we are looking at a suitable venue.  Venue to be advised.
