A New School Year &
New Beginnings at the Bollin!

School Grand Opening Celebration September 30

After more than a year of construction and the inconveniences and confusion of building work for parents, pupils and Bollin staff, the new school is almost finished!

In celebration of the beautiful new facility and to allow parents, former pupils and the community an opportunity to see the completed project, the school will be open to visitors on Friday, September 30 for a day and night of fun-filled activity.

Events will begin with a flag ceremony at 9:30am and will continue in the afternoon with tours of the new facility and a special assembly for the children. There will also be an evening of entertainment with a Southwestern themed family ceilidh in the newly completed school hall.

This is an exciting time for the school and we are proud to show off what is sure to be a beautiful place for our children to continue their primary education. For more information on Opening Day activities and events, contact the Bollin office at 0161 928 8900 or email office@bollin.sch.uk.

News & Requests

•   Do you have any old or outgrown school uniforms in good condition? Recycle them by donating them to the PTA. Drop off any donations to the school office.

•   The PTA is in need of a practicing accountant to prepare and sign off annual accounts at the end of the financial year (31 August) and before submission to the charity commission. The time commitment for this is minimal and no formal role in the PTA is required as the PTA treasurer is responsible for gathering and supplying all the information needed to produce the accounts. In the past, this service has kindly been provided free of charge to the PTA by parents in the accountancy profession. If you or your spouse is able to help, please contact Tammie Willis at 07531 303701.

•   The Bollin PTA is on Facebook! If you're interested in staying up to date on events, activities and general school information, search Bollin School PTA from your Facebook account and press "Like".

•   We had an absolutely fantastic Summer Camp out and Fair this July. Bollin Mum Kristen Soper was kind enough to donate her time and photography skills to document the day. You can see the photos by visiting the Bollin School PTA Facebook page. If you're interested in purchasing any of the photos, contact Kristen at kristen_soper@yahoo.com

How PTA Funds Helped Make Our New School Even Better

As you know, the Bollin PTA is dedicated to financially supporting the school in many different areas with a goal of enriching our children's curriculum and educational experience.

For this term, PTA funds have been earmarked for the projects listed below.

•  Interactive wipe-boards for the Nursery and Reception classrooms
•  Community play equipment for Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1
•  Subsidies for school trips for all classes

The Bollin PTA has an extremely successful partnership with the school staff and this goes a long way toward making the Bollin a wonderful place for our children to begin their education and foster a real love of learning that we hope will stay with them throughout their academic careers.

If you are interested in learning more about how PTA funds are used or in providing your ideas or opinions, join us for monthly PTA meetings. The next meeting will be held on 11th October and the allocation of PTA funds will be on the agenda. Also please feel free to contact the PTA any time with your suggestions or comments.

The Bollin PTA Needs You!

The Bollin School PTA provides tremendous support for the children through the wide range of activities that are organized every year.

From the social fun of the fairs and discos to the fund-raising activities of the cake stalls and the Summer Ball, the PTA provides our community with a real sense of cohesion and purpose.

Anyone can assist the PTA! We rely on all Bollin parents to provide assistance whenever they are able. If you can volunteer for an hour at an event, bake a cake for a cake stall or attend a meeting, you will be doing your part to make sure the PTA is able to continue providing extra support and funds for our children.

At the moment, we are in need of volunteers for Class Representative (see below for Vacancies). The Class Representative's role is to provide cohesion within the parents of each class by passing on information, helping to organize activities and contact lists. Representatives are not required to volunteer above and beyond this role and need not attend every PTA meeting.

Additionally we will soon be compiling a team to plan the Christmas Fair. If you're interested in joining or volunteering to help on the day, let us know.

Any and all assistance to this year's PTA efforts would be greatly appreciated. It's a wonderful way to get involved and to meet other parents.

If you are interested in helping out in any capacity, contact Sarah Binney or Tammie Willis.
